SmallTown, an independent production company, was founded by Will J. Sims and Lisa Montgomery-Sims in 2000. Frustrated by the lack of children's videos that portray positive role models and quality programming, Will and Lisa decided to use their award-winning talents to make an impact on our society. SmallTown exploded onto the scene with its 3 time Emmy award-winning movie, Brotherly Love. The movie continues to receive many accolades and was distributed to more than 7,000 schools in the Midwest to use as a device to teach morals and the dangers of drug usage. The novel version was featured in the syndicated magazine, Black Issues Book Review (July/August, 2001). Our next project, entitled “Big Mama’s Bible Stories” is a series of animated Home Video/DVD specials for children. This unique series brings the wondeful characters of the Bible to life with captivating storylines, by way of a loving grandmother’s narration. It is based on the nurturing, childhood lessons learned from my grandmother, or Big Mama as known by me and everyone else in the small southern town of Brandon, Mississippi. “Big Mama’s Bible Stories” is intended not only for entertainment, but for educational and informative purposes. It is our prayer that parents, grandparents, guardians, and educators in all walks of life such as Home, Church, Sunday School & Vacation Bible School, and Christian Day Centers use this series to empower and encourage children to utilize biblical principles in everyday life. SmallTown prides itself in being one of few African-American media companies that produces and distributes quality, faith-based family entertainment. Please look forward to more forthcoming media from our library.
